I painted this watercolour of the Four Courts on Inns Quay from across the Liffey. I enjoyed working through the detail in the façade of this magnificent building.

It was a familiar place from my days working for Eircom, when I was a frequent visitor to a technical plant room in one of the basements. Painting the exterior brought back memories of those visits and a rather different view of the building.

I later gave permission for the image to appear on the cover of a commemorative book marking the Supreme Court’s centenary. The Courts Service has also used it for stationery and Christmas cards. You can see the book cover and read more about it here.
