Moored boats fill the foreground of this acrylic landscape painting of Garrykennedy on Lough Derg, County Tipperary. The view looks back from the jetty towards the pub and village houses, with the green running down to the water’s edge.

I was showing paintings in a gallery in Limerick city and exploring the surrounding area for inspiration when someone suggested Garrykennedy. Seeing it for the first time on a summer’s evening was wonderful: the boats, the village green and the little houses all gathered beside the lake. Such a picturesque place to discover.
