A couple hold each other beneath an umbrella on the north side of Dublin’s Ha’penny Bridge in this acrylic painting. People pass around them, but they seem oblivious to everything beyond their own little moment beneath the streetlamp.

I thought of this painting as something of a companion to my view from the south side, A Stolen Moment on the Halfpenny Bridge – 533. I was particularly happy with the variety of colour and light here: the warm lamp and glowing windows against the cool blues of the wet pavement, with the couple’s embrace at the heart of it all.
