Many of my paintings of Grafton Street, Dublin, are painted in the early evening time so that I can capture the bright lights of the shop windows and streetlamps, illuminating the people out shopping on this always busy street. I like to try and capture the vibrancy and colour of this crowded thoroughfare, sometimes focussing on a particular couple under a colourful umbrella, or maybe window-shopping outside a store, and I also like to play around with the reflections on the soft cobbled street that mirror the blues and purples of a darkening sky, side by side with the warm oranges and yellows spilling from the windows and doorways.
