Painting auctioned at Waterford Mayors Gala Ball

Last year I painted a big painting of Waterford City Centre for the Waterford Mayors Gala Ball where it was auctioned during the evening along with other paintings and prizes. The Ball is run every year and the proceeds of the night go to local charities or organizations that benefit the local communities.

The 2017 beneficiaries were Pieta House who have a Suicide and Self Harm crisis centre in the city, Waterford Marine Search and Rescue who do wonderful voluntary work, one of which is patrolling the river at night looking out for people in difficulty and Waterford Disability Network.

The painting went for a nice sum, especially as two people were bidding against each other at the end. Nice to know that the money went directly to 3 really worthy causes. I also got a big canvas print made for the Pieta Centre reception area - I have a connection with Pieta so try to help out whenever I can.

It was a great night - good fun - my first time EVER in a tuxedo!
