✔ Makes a thoughtful gift for weddings, birthdays and housewarmings

A group wait patiently to cross the street at the foot of Dublin’s Ha’penny Bridge in this acrylic painting. The white railings lead straight across the river towards the warm windows of the Winding Stair bookshop and café and the Woollen Mills building.

I chose this head-on view to bring those familiar buildings into the composition alongside the bridge. The cool blues of the wet foreground sit against the warmer colours behind, reversing the usual approach of letting colours grow cooler in the distance. I liked the contrast this gave to the people waiting nearest the viewer.
