The River Tolka curves through Griffith Park in Drumcondra, Dublin, in this acrylic painting. A couple stroll along the path beside the water, beneath trees turning gold and orange near Botanic Avenue.
The original was a commission. Although it was spring at the time, I chose to paint the scene in autumn to bring more variety to the greens. I also added an imagined couple to give a sense of scale, setting their figures against the broad trees and the curve of the river.
