The tranquil water of the Bohernabreena upper lake is disturbed only by the ripples caused by three teenagers skimming stones from the lakeshore in this painting.
Both reservoirs and the distinctive draw towers date from the late 1800's, the upper reservoir created to serve as the main drinking water source, while the lower reservoir was designed to manage water flow and supply water to the 40 or so mills served by the Dodder River.
These lakes nestle between the mountains in the picturesque Glenasmole Valley.
