Three boats sit side by side in the harbour at Saint-Martin-de-Ré on the Île de Ré, France, in this acrylic painting on canvas. Pale buildings with shuttered windows line the quay, their red-tiled roofs standing out against the blue sky and water.

This was a commission painted from a photograph, and I was really pleased with how bright and colourful it turned out. There’s plenty to enjoy in this small harbour scene, from the different shapes of the boats to the café tables along the waterfront.
