Fruit and vegetable stalls line Moore Street in this early watercolour painting of Dublin, with shoppers passing between the displays and familiar shopfronts. The loose, baggy clothes give the period away — unmistakably the 1990s!
Some of my earliest memories are of this street full of fruit and veg stalls. When I began painting Dublin, I felt I was recording scenes of a particular time: places and ways of life that would change, and might eventually fade from memory. This painting holds on to something of the Moore Street I remember.
