A young couple sit close together on a park bench in this acrylic painting of St Stephen’s Green, Dublin. People pass through Fusiliers’ Arch nearby, while the shopping centre’s illuminated windows bring warm colour to the scene beyond the park.
This was part of a phase when I painted romantic couples on park benches — and Stephen’s Green has plenty of them! I wanted to include both the arch and the shopping centre as a recognisable backdrop, placing the couple’s quiet moment within the bustle of the city.
