A couple stroll beneath umbrellas along Grafton Street, Dublin, with flower stalls beside them and shop lights reflected on the rain-wet pavement. The bright corner of the chemist’s shop draws the eye and sets off the figures passing in front of it.
I have painted this view many times, finding something different in it each time. I’ve always preferred the character of the street’s older cobbles, and often bring them back into my paintings. That affection for the Grafton Street I remember is part of what keeps drawing me to this corner.
