Crowds fill Henry Street in this acrylic painting of Dublin, with Arnotts’ distinctive yellow sign above the shoppers. Warm light from the windows spreads across the street beneath the blue evening sky. It’s a view I love, and at busy times there can be so many people that you can only shuffle along.

I’ve known this street since childhood. There used to be a Woolworths on the left, and when I was fourteen I got my sister to buy me a plastic camera there for Christmas. I took my first photographs with it, although my parents weren’t quite so impressed when it came to paying for the film to be developed!
