Coliemore Harbour, Dalkey, Co Dublin - 293
This is a seascape painting of a lovely little harbour just outside Dalkey, County Dublin, that wouldnt seem out of place in Connemara! I deliberately cropped the scene to focus on the boats, harbour and Dalkey Island in the distance. Apparently Coliemore was one of the harbours through which the Great Plague entered Ireland in the Middle Ages! I used vibrant acrylic blues and greens in the sky and sea to give a bright summery feel to the picture.
Sometimes my interest is piqued and I like to research some of my painting subjects, especially Dublin street scenes and pubs and bars and am often amazed at some of the snippets of curious information I come across. Follow this link to read one or two about Coliemore Harbour ...

Coliemore Harbour Dalkey
Chris, I received the above picture as a house gift from a friend, John O'Hanlon. I am thrilled to have it. It's actually the third Chris McMorrow I have as I separately purchased a smaller version last year plus a picture of Dun Laoghaire harbour in the rain. In addition, I purchased another Coliemore Harbour scene for my daughters apartment as a Xmas present. Really enjoy your work. Regards Oliver Kelly Dalkey
