Coliemore is a lovely little harbour in Dalkey, County Dublin, that wouldn’t seem out of place in Connemara! In this acrylic painting, I cropped the view tightly to leave out the more modern surrounding houses and concentrate on the boats, harbour and Dalkey Island in the distance.
I used vibrant blues and greens to give the scene a bright, summery feel, while keeping the harbour itself at the heart of the composition.
The harbour has changed a little in recent years, so I am glad I had the opportunity to capture this earlier view. There was a simple, rugged character to it that I wanted to preserve in the painting.
