Cat with Blue Shutters, Provence – 585

Blue shutters frame a cat sitting on a windowsill in this acrylic painting, with terracotta pots and climbing greenery filling the space around it. Sunlight catches the leaves and the textured wall, bringing warmth to this quiet scene.

The shutters came from a photograph I took in an Italian village, but I reimagined the setting as Provence while working on a series of French paintings. The cat was a late addition. I felt the composition needed a focal point and a little life, and that watchful figure on the sill brought it together.
