This acrylic painting of Carlingford, County Louth, was a commission. By chance, I happened to be passing nearby around that time, and a bright sunny day gave me the opportunity to take plenty of detailed reference photographs.
I chose this viewpoint to bring together the harbour, castle, hillside and boats without letting the sky or water take over the composition. The seagulls added some life to the foreground, where a human figure would not have worked with this particular view.
