People stroll along Bray promenade and bathers enjoy the sea on a beautiful summer’s day, with Bray Head rising in the background. I think this painting originally began as a commission, though the father and son beside the railings were figures I invented.
I liked the idea of them pointing and looking towards something outside the picture. We can’t see what has caught their attention, which leaves a little mystery for the viewer.
I painted this with water-mixable oils, which I used for a while. They were lovely to work with, but seemed to take forever to dry!
