Tait’s Clock is the focal point of this acrylic painting of Baker Place in Limerick. I placed the couple on the left so that we follow their direction into the scene and towards this distinctive clock tower.

I exaggerated the uplighting from the fountain at its base to give the tower more presence. The warm reddish-orange light plays against the strip of blue sky, helping draw the eye to the clock.

That contrast between warm and cool colour was central to the painting, with the couple giving us a way into the composition.
