Crossing by Trinity – 41

In this painting of Trinity College, Dublin, I wanted to capture the hurried movement of people trying to dodge the rain. The trees and statue on the left frame the college façade, balanced by the cyclists approaching on the right.

I began with a mauve base on the canvas, allowing it to show through the finished painting and bring the colours together. Against the subdued afternoon light, the warm windows and reflections give life to the wet street.
