In this Italian landscape painting I used the rows of poppies as leading lines to draw the eye up to the hilltop village in the background.
These beautiful villages dot the Italian countryside and are usually presided over the by the church tower, typically built at the tallest point in the village, and thus always can be seen from most places in the village.
