Saturday afternoon shoppers fill Grafton Street in this semi-abstract acrylic painting of Dublin. Umbrellas rise above the crowd, while the figures and surrounding buildings dissolve into long reflections across the wet street.
I wanted to capture the vivacity of the shopping street, using predominantly orange and purple pigments to give the painting its energy. The loose treatment lets the people, light and colour merge into the bustle of a busy afternoon.
