A print of an oil painting of the Harbour Bar in Bray, Co Wicklow. I tried to capture the pub on a sunny afternoon, and have had the pleasure of spending a few there over the years. Tried my first pint of Guinness Zero there last time as I was designated driver :-(
Located in Bray, it has earned praise for its distinct blend of scruffy, wild, and elegant ambiance, making it a truly remarkable destination pub. Its decor is a treasure trove of curios and mementos, collected over a remarkable history of one and a half centuries. Visitors can indulge in great beer and savour the renowned O’Toole Toastie while exploring the myriad of rooms that add to the pub's enchanting allure. Throughout the week, guests can delight in a diverse array of entertainment options, including music, spoken word performances, and comedy gigs.
Established in 1872, The Harbour Bar originally operated as a bar and undertakers. In 1932, the O’Toole family assumed ownership, but in 2013, the Duggan family took over with a firm commitment to preserving the establishment's unique character and paying homage to its rich heritage. The pub's origins trace back to a collection of fisherman's houses, and each room now offers a distinct atmosphere for visitors to enjoy, making The Harbour Bar an inviting wonderland to wander through. Whether you seek relaxation or excitement, this charming venue caters to various preferences, attracting music enthusiasts both locally and from distant places.
