Fitzgerald's Pub in Sandycove, County Dublin is a true gem. I love painting the pub's warm and inviting atmosphere, which is enhanced by the play of light and colour that spills in from outside. The pub has a rich history and has been run by the Fitzgerald family for over fifty years. In fact, it's hard to separate the pub from James Joyce, as each chapter of Ulysses is featured on the stained glass windows throughout the pub. Every June 16th, the pub is filled with throngs of Joyce fans celebrating Bloomsday. It's this kind of history and character that makes Fitzgerald's Pub such a special place, and it's a joy to capture these elements in my acrylic paintings.
