The Hairy Lemon pub apparently gets it's name from a dog catcher that used to be around Dublin in the 1950's who seemed to have had a lemon shaped face full of hairy stubble. 

The cult Irish film “The Commitments” which is based off of a Roddy Doyle novel features heavily in the Hairy Lemon where a lot of its scenes were filmed.
