In this acrylic painting, I moved in closer to College Green, filling the scene with people huddled beneath umbrellas and traffic passing through the rain.
I wanted the movement of the figures and vehicles to convey a sense of urgency: that familiar feeling of a Dublin winter’s day when everyone seems keen to get where they are going.
Mauves and blues contrast with the orange and red light on the buildings. Those cooler colours also help the small touches of warmth in people’s faces stand out among the umbrellas.
