College Green in the Rain, Dublin – 110

This semi-impressionistic acrylic painting captures a busy winter scene on College Green, beside the entrance to Trinity College. Pedestrians move through the rain beneath umbrellas, with a Dublin double-decker bus adding to the bustle and the old Bank of Ireland building in the background.

I cropped in closer to the people and waiting traffic to accentuate the slightly manic nature of this crossing. I wanted to bring the viewer into the middle of the activity.

Warm city lights and reflections on the wet pavement contrast with the cooler winter tones. You can almost hear the sizzle of the traffic on the wet road.
