A couple walk along the strand in this watercolour of Killiney Beach, County Dublin. Gentle waves follow the curve of the shore, with Killiney Hill rising behind and Sorrento Terrace just visible in the distance.

This painting came from my first visit to Killiney Beach. Dollymount and Malahide had been my local beaches, so it was lovely to discover somewhere new, with that distinctive backdrop of the hill and the row of houses at Sorrento Terrace. The sweep of the beach gives the couple plenty of space around them and leads the eye along the coast.
