Dalkey Castle and Village, Dublin – 1014

This early watercolour and ink painting captures Dalkey Castle on the approach into Dalkey village, County Dublin. The stone tower stands beside the road, with trees framing the view and shopfronts drawing the eye further into the village.

I worked in a loose style, combining ink lines with washes of colour. The castle sits among the everyday details of the street — parked cars, passing traffic and familiar buildings — giving the scene the feeling of arriving in the village.
