Carlingford, Co Louth - 483
This seascape painting of Carlingford, County Louth was a commission and I tried to find a viewpoint that would take in the harbour, the castle and the mountain without the sky and water dominating too much. The weather was kind and I was able to take advantage of the sunshine to give the canvas a summery feel with bright colours.
Carlingford's original name translates to “narrow sea inlet of the hag”. Folk legends, The Clancy Brothers, have a song about the town called “Farewell to Carlingford”.
