People paddle, stroll and stand chatting at the water’s edge in this acrylic painting of Bray, County Wicklow. The old Bray Head Hotel overlooks the beach, with the hills rising behind its pale frontage.

I painted this during a spell when I was doing a lot of rainy scenes, and a rare sunny day at the seaside made a welcome change. There was something refreshing about turning to the bright beach, blue water and people making the most of the sunshine.
