At Peter’s Pub, Dublin – 477

This acrylic painting of Peter’s Pub on South William Street was a warm-versus-cool tug of war: glowing yellows against the blues of the building and wet street. I liked the way the windows seemed to invite you inside from the damp evening.

I used to call into Peter’s occasionally over the decades, and it always had an old-school charm. The pub later asked my permission to use this painting on postcards for tourists to send home—a lovely connection between the painting and the place itself.
