I had been scouting around for new Dublin viewpoints when I settled on this one from the Luas stop at Stephen’s Green, looking towards the top of Grafton Street. It allowed me to include the shopping centre’s shopfronts and glowing windows in this small acrylic painting.
The crowd helped give the scene a sense of scale and depth. Larger figures in the foreground lead towards smaller people further away, carrying the eye through the busy space. There was plenty of opportunity for warm colour in the windows and reflections across the pavement.
