A couple walk along the snowy bank beside Huband Bridge in this acrylic painting of Dublin’s Grand Canal. The bridge, buildings and surrounding landscape are all there in reality, but I invented the snow. I wanted to try something different with a familiar setting.
For me, this painting was almost a battle between red and blue, warm and cool. The red-orange umbrella and warm brickwork stand against the blues of the snow and wintry surroundings, drawing the eye towards the couple as they make their way along the bank.
